A Girl's Day Out

Yesterday Abby and I had a well deserved day out with our best friends Heather and Lily. With all this snow we've recieved this winter and all the days stuck inside it was a huge treat for us all to get out of our dens from hibernation. So we met Heather and Lily for a great lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. Then we went consignment shopping. There is a company called 'Little Treasures' and they host two huge baby consignment sales a year. This sale was at an old Circuit City building and it had over 30,000 sq ft of baby clothes. We only got down two rows before we lost our focus. So we browsed what they had left there and came back to our house to hang out. Us moms did just fine but from the picture below you can tell Lily and Abby still have some training to go through.

I guess it'll take some more shopping trips before they became pros. But it def helped our sanity. Well at least it helped with mine :)

Happy Friday!!

Sunday Mornings

I absolutely love Sunday mornings! This morning Abby and I woke Josh up by joining him in bed. We just all cuddled together and hung out. It was so nice to be able to do this and not be in a rush to get up and go anywhere or do anything.

Please excuse the messy hair and the no make-up. We really did just get up from slumber. Then after our cuddle session we decided on going down to Nancy's Bagels for coffee, bagels, and oatmeal. It is a really nice morning here in Louisville and we've waited a long time for a morning like this. Finally the snow is melting and the stroller is able to roll. We bundled Abby up pretty well...a long sleeve shirt, a sweater, pants, socks, a hat, and two warm blankets. She had a great time and her cough sounded better while we were out. Now that we are home she's wheezy again. Hopefully she's able to kick this cold soon.

We hope everyone has a great Sunday!!

Meme

We have some wonderful news! Josh's grandma, Meme has been in and out of hospitals and nursing homes the past ten months. Meme was finally able to come home this week!! Abby was able to hang out with Meme for the second time! Here is a picture of their reunion. We are so happy to have Meme home and that's she in better health.

Abby's First "Sick Visit" to the Doctor's Office.

Yesterday morning Josh and I took Abby to the doctor's office. This was our first sick visit. We saw Dr. Belza who is just awesome!! He reassured us that it is okay and preferred to bring babies in for their first few colds. This really made me feel better. I'm not an overly paranoid mom but I had a friend who's baby was rushed to the hospital for a low oxygen level due to RSV and I really didn't want to have to worry that it was RSV with Abby. Fortunately it's not! Her lungs and ears both look very clear so it's just all in her head. But Dr. Belza told us that RSV has been seen more than normal this year so better safe than sorry. They also weighed Abby and she's a whopping 17 pounds and 6.5 ounces! Dr. Belza said that you can look at her and tell that she's not a tiny baby but that he would tell us if he felt she was too big. He told us that as soon as she starts crawling it will all burn off. That for the first six months we have to force feed them so they have enough to burn from 6 - 12 months. I have a feeling it won't be too long before she's crawling but for now she just rolls to where she wants to be. Please keep Abby in your prayers that she's able to kick this cold! Here's a pic to leave you with.

First Cold

Yesterday we received our 11th snow storm for the season. This storm packed between 6 -8 additional inches to the 5-7 we received last week. They're also predicting another 1 - 3 inches this weekend. I really want to go somewhere warm but I'm starting to believe there is no such place.

This lovely weather has brought Abby her very first cold :( As much as we wrap her up and protect her from the freezing weather it just wasn't enough. Josh left for work yesterday morning and Abby awoke coughing. Her nose won't stop running which I'm not sure if that's from the cold, cutting teeth or maybe both. Poor thing has a scratchy throat too. Abby slept in her carseat (this was recommended by the ped) and we had the humidifier running all night. She's still stuffy, runny and scratchy :(

Even though she isn't feeling well it has not kept her spirits down. I swear this little girl is the sweetest little person ever! Here is a picture of her under the warm load of clothes fresh from the dryer. I remember I use to love having the warm towels tossed on me. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't mind it on a day like today.

My brother Derek flew in for the week to visit us. We had a great time hanging out with him today and we're so happy he made it into town safely. Abby hopes that her Sisa (Grandma Lisa) and Papaw have a safe trip to Florida this weekend to visit her Great Grandma Betsy. Hopefully it's warmer there than it is here in Kentucky!

Love to all!

Sweet Potatos and Cereal

Every night Abby gets a veggie with her rice cereal. Last night the veggie du jour was sweet potatoes. Here's a couple of pictures of Abby during her meal!

And my favorite...

Abby and Great Great Grandma Helen

Hello friends and family!

Abby and I took a weekend trip up to Illinois to visit our family up north. The reason for our short trip was to help celebrate my great grandmother's (Abby's great great grandmother) 100th birthday! Although grandma is only able to participate for a little while she was very interested in Abby. "Oh she's so beautiful." is all grandma could say! It was difficult travelling 10 hours within 24 hours but it was so worth it just to see grandma interacting with Abby. My cousins Megan and Whitney were so kind to take some great pictures of Abby and grandma together. Hope you enjoy them!
