One Year Check-Up

Hello friends and family.

I was going to update the blog sooner but I was waiting to get a good picture to post with this momentous post but I keep putting it off. So I will fill all of you in on her appointment went and leave you with a playful picture from this morning.

Tuesday was Abby's one year check-up. It's hard to believe that it has already been a year but I won't go into all of that again. We saw Dr. Lainey at East Louisville Pediatrics. We love this office and we love this doctor. He gives it to you straight and doesn't expect the parents to do anything more than he has with his four children. It's nice to have a doctor that is an average Joe like the rest of us.

Abby is doing wonderfully!! She weighs 21.09 pounds which lands her in the 50 - 75 percentile which is where she has been the entire year. Her height is 29 1/8 inches which is in the 50 percentile. Dr. Lainey didn't tell us the exact measurement of Abby's head but whatever it is puts her in the 90 percentile. Ha ha. Our little girl has a big head. We joke about its a wonder how it's a wonder she's able to walk with that big noggin. Dr. Lainey guessed that it comes from Josh's side but then I remembered that her Uncle Derek had a big head when he was younger.

Dr. Lainey was very impressed with her motor and language skills. He says that boys generally learn how to walk and climb first where girls generally learn words and show emotions first. But that she's doing both is wonderful! He says he looks for his patients to say one word and the fact that Abby has said or attempted to say so many is great.

Abby's on the right track and we're so proud of her. She had three shots that day which were much more painful the past shots. It was painful for us both. I'll admit that I started crying too. It's hard to hear your baby crying out of pain.

Okay so for our amusing picture for the day. My mom often jokes about when Abby leaves it looks like a two and a half foot tornado ripped through her home. Well here is Abby in all her glory this morning with her toy tub and the second one is of her jumping on her chair. There is never a dull moment when it comes to Abby which is why I frequently refer to her as 'Josh Junior'.

Your Abby Dose for the Week!!

This week has been a long week. Josh has been in Maryland for fire academy since Saturday and will not be home until early early Saturday morning. So it has been just Abby and me. Thankfully we've had some great support this week. Gayle watched Abby for me on Saturday so I could have some time to spend with my friend Katie. Needless to say Abby and I both ready for Josh to get home.

The other day we went shopping so I dressed her up very cute. The outfit is an ensemble made by many...the dress was a birthday gift from my friend Katie. The white hat was a birthday gift from her Gigi and the yellow sunflower was a birthday gift from our friend Debbie. As you can see Abby has an attraction for phones. From my cell she has called my friend Courtney at 7:15 in the morning, she has called our neighbor one evening and has called my mom and left her a 10  minute message. From Gayle's cell she called her Aunt Pat five times in a row. Abby also has a tendency to run off with the house phones and I have to track them down. One is still MIA.  Well here is her picture...

Yesterday we went to story time 'hour' really it was twenty minutes but who's counting? At the library she met a boy. He's 13 months old and it feels like he's a foot taller than Abby. They got along very well...he'd pull the toys out and she'd throw back in the bin.

Today we had a play date with our friends Kennedy and Keegan. They get along so well! The girls love to 'mother hen' as we call it. Today they fed her goldfish and cheerios. She had such a great time! Well here is one last picture before we go. Abby got a pair of Nikes from her papaw and they are still a little big but she's able to wear them and not fall.

One Year Old!!

Well...can you believe our little girl is already one year old! The day came around so fast. I watch her everyday and I can witness her growth and development so it takes a milestone like her birthday to make it reality. My baby girl is just going to get bigger and bigger.

It's so funny to watch her walk through the house from one room to the next. Or when she finds a food she loves and will eat that first before anything else on her plate. Recently Abby has been quite fussy. I figured she was teething but can't see or feel her top center teeth. That's because Abby is getting her lateral incisors before her center which means she's going to look like a little vampire. You can see them and feel them.

 She's growing up.

I guess I will get this feeling even more as the time flies. Before I know it we'll be dropping her off to preschool! It's so scary how fast it goes but it just gets better and better. Abby has a personality unlike any other. I know I am her mom so I maybe a bit biased but she just is so happy and funny.

Yesterday for her first birthday her daddy made her favorite breakfast...eggs. Afterwards I packed up a picnic and we headed to the park. She swung for a while, went down the slide and then went for a little walk. The weather was beautiful. We then stopped in a shaded area and had lunch. It was so calm and peaceful. Then for dinner she had her very first grilled cheese sandwich. She loves cheese. I forgot to bring her birthday cupcake with me so I gave it to her at lunch today.

As always momma was there with the camera. So I will share with you pictures from her fun filled birthday.

Thank you all for your support, love, guidance, and advice through the past year. Having Abby is the best thing that has happened to us but it wouldn't have been as easy without the help of our family and friends.
THANK YOU!!

First Birthday Party

It's so hard to believe that Abby will be turning one year old tomorrow!! People tell you that the time flies by but I never really realized how fast it does go by. There have been some many long nights but the year flew!

We had Abby's first birthday party on Sunday afternoon. She had a lot of her friends and family show up. We have an amazing support system and really couldn't have survived without these people the past year. The theme to the party was ladybugs. Here are some pictures from her birthday party.

Waiting for her guests to arrive.
