Josh and I have been waiting for today for the last two months. Abby's been able to roll over to her side but never has she rolled all the way from her back to her belly without help. Well that was until today!! Josh and I were sitting on the couch and he made a remark about how she had moved herself so far. When I looked down to see her she was almost all the way over she just need to move that arm that has given her so much trouble. So I said "Josh she's going to roll over!" We both jump off the couch to get a closer view, Haley got all excited wanting to know what's going on and in a matter of seconds she was on her belly using her arms to look up at us. We were so excited! So we put her back on her back and she did again. Today she rolled over to her belly four times!! Abby rolls all the way over but then starts getting upset because she doesn't like being on her belly. I'm so happy she did this "first" with both Josh and I home!! Here is a video of her last roll!! So exciting!!

Another Snow Storm
Hello all! I'm writing from the comforts of our warm and cozy home. I think about how a year ago we had a horrible ice storm that came through and wreaked havoc on the whole state. I was seven weeks pregnant and our electricity went out around 3 that morning just after Josh left for work. I could hear transformers blowing left and right. You look out the window and on top of the blanket of white snow there was a sheet of ice and in the sky the glow of transformers popping. It was one of the most remarkable weather events I've ever seen. Fortunately our good friends The Pierces allowed us to camp out at their place. If not we would have frozen (the house was in the forties when I packed up to leave). Their house was a safe haven for a few of us. Their brother and his girlfriend had a generator until the dog chewed through the power cord. So in their house there was six of us adults, three dogs and a baby in the belly. Good times.
A year later they're predicting another snow storm. It's suppose to be between 3-5 inches which in Louisville is a lot. This will drive everyone to the stores to get bread and milk!! My family up north would probably chuckle at us. It seems that every time we get a decent snow fall we head out of town. This weekend Abby and I are going up north to Kankakee, IL to join our family celebrate my Great Grandmother Helen's 100th birthday! I can't imagine all the crazy weather she has seen in her 100 years!! Maybe there will be some snow up there for sledding! We will take pictures I promise!
On that note here is a picture of outside our home just a year ago! My little neon is covered by the broken tree limbs and it's just the cable wire. The local news crew came by and took video of this. They played the clip of my little neon up until July. I have a feeling there will be another run of it this week to mark the one year anniversary. I remember sitting on our friend's couch and seeing our home and car on the news. Let's just hope that there's not a part deux of the ice storm this week.
I hope everyone stays warm! This weekend will be a good time to lay under the blankets, drink some hot cocoa and indulge in some movies!! Love to all!!

Abby's FIrst Trip to the Park
Abby took her first trip to the park this week! We had one day where it was warm enough to get out and about. So we took her to the park to see if she'd like to swing! She LOVED it! We videotaped it and took a ton of pictures. Here is just one of the many pictures we took.
Our digital camera died on us so I had to take the pictures with our video camera. Not the best quality but at least this first didn't slip by without pictures or a video! I taped it first. Here is the video of her first time swinging.

Randomness
Not too much going on around here. Abby is still waking up at random hours but I've learned that this is normal for a four month old. Apperantly she's going through a growth spurt. We're hoping it's with her height and not her weight :)
Last night Abby was fed some bananas in her cereal and then from the jar. She seemed interested in it. Cereal time is getting much easier. I think it's because we moved it to her second to last bottle of the night or right before her bath. Abby still loves her baths. Here is a picture of her in her UofL towel after her bath last night.
Abby is loving her exersaucer. She plays in it a few times a day. It really helps me get some things done around the house. I can put her down and she'll be entertained for a little bit. Abby constantly needs interaction or she gets fussy. I don't know if this inherited (Josh) or if this is something that I've created by always holding or playing with her.

Well I should be going since Abby has woken and is probably hungry. We hope everyone is doing well!!

Haley
Today I was doing some cleaning around the house. As I was doing this I left Abby in her swing allowing her to play a bit. When I turned the corner I saw were Haley has taken interest in Abby all on her own. She'll pay attention to Abby when Josh is home. I think this is a way for her to get attention because she knows that Abby gets a lot of it. But today she did this all on her own. I was able to take a quick snap. Haley is a wonderful dog and had done a great job adjusting to having someone else stealing the show!

Rice Cereal and Winter Days
Since Saturday we've been trying the rice cereal. We have only started off with a tablespoon of cereal and add it to about an ounce of formula. It's a little runny so it's made a little bit of a mess. Abby doesn't seem to care for it much at all but we continue to give it to her before her last bottle of the night. Whatever she doesn't eat gets mixed into her bottle and she drinks it before she falls asleep. Abby's GiGi (Gayle) was here for her first attempt. We're so happy she was able to enjoy this "first". Here is a video of her first time trying the formula.
Today was the 12th day below freezing! You can say that staying indoors has really affected our days. It makes them long and boring. So today Josh and I decided on re-arranging the living room. We wanted to open it up so when Abby gets to crawling she'll have more room and boy did we do just that. Afterwards we were able to put some of her activity games in here and it she wasn't cramped at all. Here is a video I shot today as she played. Please ignore my commentary and the loud music. We were jamming out to Brett Dennen. I think Abby is adorable in her zebra pants. But only she could pull them off so well!!
We hope that you all enjoy the videos. We just love shooting and sharing them. It's a remarkable experience to capture on tape!! I just hope she feels the same way when she's older and watching these!!
Love all!!

Four Months Old!!
Hello friends and family!!
We finally got to get out of the house today. Abby and I have stayed in the past two days for a few reasons; it's too cold out for Abby, the roads a little dicey the first day, and I really didn't want to scrap all the snow off my car. So Abby and I have been hanging out indoors!
Today we got to go to her four month appointment. I'm happy to say that we have a very healthy and prospering baby! Abby currently weighs 15 pounds. That's right 15...she has doubled her birth weight!! This puts her a little above the 75th percentile. Abby is 24 inches long (two feet) CRAZY!!! This puts her in the 50th percentile. She is growing!!! The doctor was very impressed with her and said that she meets all the requirements to start having cereal. Finally she gets something other than the boring old formula but I'm not sure how exciting rice cereal is going to be either. I hope to get her on veggies soon. They said closer to 6 months but I may just wait until February!!
That is all we have to report today. She's doing great and all that matters to me. She's been a little fussy but is now taking a nap! We hope that everyone is doing well and that we hear from you soon.
Love,
Kristen, Josh, and Abby

Snow Day
Recently Abby has started waking up at random hours throughout the night. I sometimes pick her up and we sleep on the couch together that way she doesn't wake her sleeping daddy. Well she woke up at around 3:30 yesterday morning. We took a look outside and there wasn't a flake of snow! Josh got up early and headed to work...still no snow. Abby and I took a nap and when we woke up we had snow!! There was a decent amount out there and it came down the rest of the day! We stayed inside all day since it was so cold but when Josh got home we went outside briefly to get a couple of pictures! We wrapped Abby up in a snow suit we bought her a few months back. We joked saying that she looked like she came out of "The Christmas Story". We have her four month appointment tomorrow so we'll be sure to update everybody on Abby's progress!! Stay warm in this deep freeze!!
