Hello all! I'm writing from the comforts of our warm and cozy home. I think about how a year ago we had a horrible ice storm that came through and wreaked havoc on the whole state. I was seven weeks pregnant and our electricity went out around 3 that morning just after Josh left for work. I could hear transformers blowing left and right. You look out the window and on top of the blanket of white snow there was a sheet of ice and in the sky the glow of transformers popping. It was one of the most remarkable weather events I've ever seen. Fortunately our good friends The Pierces allowed us to camp out at their place. If not we would have frozen (the house was in the forties when I packed up to leave). Their house was a safe haven for a few of us. Their brother and his girlfriend had a generator until the dog chewed through the power cord. So in their house there was six of us adults, three dogs and a baby in the belly. Good times.
A year later they're predicting another snow storm. It's suppose to be between 3-5 inches which in Louisville is a lot. This will drive everyone to the stores to get bread and milk!! My family up north would probably chuckle at us. It seems that every time we get a decent snow fall we head out of town. This weekend Abby and I are going up north to Kankakee, IL to join our family celebrate my Great Grandmother Helen's 100th birthday! I can't imagine all the crazy weather she has seen in her 100 years!! Maybe there will be some snow up there for sledding! We will take pictures I promise!
On that note here is a picture of outside our home just a year ago! My little neon is covered by the broken tree limbs and it's just the cable wire. The local news crew came by and took video of this. They played the clip of my little neon up until July. I have a feeling there will be another run of it this week to mark the one year anniversary. I remember sitting on our friend's couch and seeing our home and car on the news. Let's just hope that there's not a part deux of the ice storm this week.
I hope everyone stays warm! This weekend will be a good time to lay under the blankets, drink some hot cocoa and indulge in some movies!! Love to all!!

What a neat story! I sincerely hope this next storm coming is nothing like last years. We were lucky to keep power but we had people staying with us too. Have a safe trip this weekend and Happy 100th birthday to your great grandma :)
